Capturing Family Moments Before Baby Girl Arrives
I’ve had the absolute honor of photographing Katelyn and Alex since their engagement, and watching their family grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I have enjoyed photographing their early days as a couple, their extended family, Katelyn’s very first maternity session with their adorable little boy, and now this maternity session as they prepare to welcome their sweet baby girl. It truly feels like documenting a beautiful story chapter by chapter.
For this session, we decided to try a brand-new location, and it did not disappoint. The fall colors were absolutely stunning, and we knew right away we had chosen well when we arrived to find several other photographers there, all taking advantage of the gorgeous scenery. I genuinely love moments like that—when photographers respectfully move throughout a space, sharing the “good spots” and allowing everyone the opportunity to create something beautiful.
We wandered through the park, chasing the best light, and along the way captured so many sweet, meaningful moments. There’s something incredibly special about photographing a family right before it grows—preserving the love, connection, and tenderness of this season. The moments between Katelyn and her little boy were especially heart-melting; their bond is so natural and full of joy.
Of course, no session is complete without a little adventure. We had an unfortunate guest appearance by a very unwanted visitor. We smelled him before we saw him—Mr. Skunk made his presence known in the most unpleasant way possible. Thankfully, after a brief panic, we realized poor Mr. Skunk was no longer with us… and we were able to continue the session and still walk away with some truly beautiful images. Crisis averted!
The highest compliment I can ever receive is being invited back to photograph life’s milestones over and over again. Katelyn and Alex, thank you so much for trusting me with your memories through every season. You are incredible parents, and I know your sweet little family will have the smoothest transition welcoming your new little cherub. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.
